Futureproof yourself against becoming a cyber-zombie.
Futureproof yourself against becoming a cyber-zombie by learning and practicing outdoor skills. As technology encroaches more and more on the boundaries of our minds and individualism, the need to know how to survive and exist outside that system, becomes more necessary to protect our own freedoms and sense of identity. This is a form of constructive rebellion by life and the living. And it gives us advantages over the others, who are unwittingly enslaved by the machine and its algorithms.
You can start small, you do not have to go full-on mountain man, the first few steps are the most important. Buy a quality map of a nearby area, if in the the UK then we strongly recommend Ordinance Survey.
Find a campsite and get out there, remember people will be willing to help you (we are always looking for new tribe members). You don’t have to spend out on books or courses, in a more natural environment people have an instinctive drive to teach each other skills, as we all did for millennia in the past. That said we recommend as a keystone text “Buschcraft 101” by Dave Canterbury. It has a very American focus, but that is forgivable as it is such an excellent book. We also recommend the fun and accessible “The Natural Navigator” by Tristan Goodley.
Remember fighting the machine is small steps, not major set piece battles. You don’t have to start by going on epic hikes uphill and down dale, to free your soul and distrupt the dopamine craving algorithms implanted in our minds by big tech. A short walk to the local pub (if in England) for a few ales, is an ideal place to kick off your personal insurgency against our bondage to the machine.
